6th Grade Homework
- On a plain piece of paper draw a staff and your clef.
- Label the line notes
- Write an acronym (like Every Good Boy Does Fine) for the line notes. You cannot use the example that I just gave you. It must be original!! YOU MUST DO YOUR LINE NOTES--CELLO, BASS, VIOLA: YOUR LINES NOTES ARE NOT EGBDF SO DON'T DO USE THE ACRONYM ABOVE
- On another piece of plain paper do the same thing for the space notes. You cannot use FACE. It must be original!!
This is due on Thursday for 1st hour and Friday for 2nd hour. All classes have a test on Buckeye Salute on Thursday!

THEORY
6TH Grade OrkaDorks need to bring their theory book on Wednesday. We will be going over unit one, which will be due next wednesday. Students will need their theory books every Wednesday for the rest of the year unless told otherwise.
Any student that does not have a theory book needs to make arrangements to either get a book or a copy of the pages in that unit.

New Fingering Charts
I have placed updated fingering charts on the right hand side of the blog for 6th grade students. These charts now have the real names of the notes (A B C# D E F# G) on the strings along with the notes for the definition and symbol of staff, measure, bar line, double bar line, time signature and your clef. You can find the D scale in your book on page 11.
Remember that Flashcards are due on Monday!

Flashcard Project
Flashcards--Due on Monday, September 21st for all 6th grade students
- Draw a staff and place the definition on the back of the card
- Draw your clef on a staff and provide both names on the back
- Draw a measure and barlines....provide a defintion for both on the back
- Draw a double bar line on a staff with two measures....write the defintion on the back
- Each on one card, draw the notes for the D scale and identify the note on the back
- Provide an example of a time signature....write the definition on the back
- Draw a walk, running, and half note along with a lizard and half rest.....identify the note and how many beats on the back.
- Create/ write a four measure composition using each of the concepts presented above.
Your flashcards must be colorful, legible, and neat. Make sure you use something the size of a standard index card, I will not accept an entire piece of paper. If you would like to create a powerpoint instead you may do so but you must do the following:
- include pictures of all the above
- include a video of someone performing your piece of music
- it must be visually appealling....please no cheesy clipart
You may also do a movie explaining numbers 1-7 and have someone perform your composition. Your movie must be entertaining and educational. You must have the following:
- A set, meaing a background other than a room in your house, school, etc...
- A script, you need to plan what you are going to say so that your movie looks professional
- sound within your video to enhance what is going on
- you still must teach the above concepts and show what they look like
- IF YOU ONLY TALK THEN YOU CANNOT GET ABOVE A C
If you choose to do either the powerpoint or the movie correctly then you will earn a grade of an A+.
