8th Grade Reflections and Practice Logs

Although practice logs and reflections were technically due Friday, I will accept them until Tuesday because I only saw you once last week.

The 212 Spirit

Congratulations Evelyn, Laura B., and Amethyst for recieving superior ratings at Solo and Ensemble today. You all did an outstanding job today. What a great way to represent the 212!!!!!

Thank you so much to all of the students who helped with Solo and Ensemble today. I could not have done it with out you!!!!!

7th Grade Orchestra

The cello and bass sections will have a quiz everyday this week on Avatar measures 31-38. Please make sure that you practice the fingerings carefully and slowly for exact intonation (how well you play in tune). btw--intonation is the candy word for the week.
The select 1st violins will also have an assessment everyday this week on measures 43-55 in Accents. Make sure you the remember the key signature (G major so low 2 on the "A" and "E" strings) and listen for the patten, which will make these measures easier.
CONGRATS 2ND VIOLINS YOU ARE SECTION OF THE WEEK!!!!!!!! I WILL HAVE A SURPRISE FOR YOU ON FRIDAY, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.
CONGRATS 7TH GRADE ON WINNING THE POLL, YOU ALL WILL RECIEVE A POPCORN PARTY IN THE COMING WEEKS.

212 Checklist: We don't stop until it's better than our BEST

For the rest of this week, we will continue polishing Avatar and Accents. Your concert is quickly approaching and we still have at least one more piece to learn. You need to be practicing all of your music so that you don't forget the small details like dynamics, bowings, and articulations. I will be giving pop quizzes on any piece of music randomly and these quizzes will either be by section or entire class. Remember we operate as a class (an ensemble) not individuals so if you cannot play it with other people; YOU CANNOT PLAY IT!!!!!

Theory Wednesday

ALL GRADES.....It's your favorite day of the week (drum roll)
THEORY WEDNESDAY SO BRING YOUR THEORY BOOKS TO CLASS!!!!

SOLO AND ENSEMBLE

I NEED STUDENTS AND PARENTS TO HELP WITH SOLO AND ENSEMBLE THIS WEEKEND AT AWTREY.
Help includes volunteering for the day or bringing breakfast/ lunch items for approximately ten people. Please email me as to which you might be able to do and I will provide you with exact details.

The event begins at 9 but I would need you there from 8:30 to approximately 3pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all volunteers.

6th Grade Orchestra

6th Grade students great job on the bow today!!!

Tomorrow we will continue on the bow, but we will have another silent class (I can hear you cheering now). Also I will handout your Build-A-Bow project assignments tomorrow but if you cannot wait then use the link on the side entitled Build-A-Bow to download the project details or look on the orchestra calendar.

Remember these tips for the bow:
Loosen your bow prior to packing up each day
Tighten your bow prior to playing everyday
DO NOT TOUCH THE BOW HAIR
Play only on highway 3, which is halfway between the bridge and the fingerboard
